The Tammy Faye Biopic
In the struggle between faith and wealth, the winner is obvious for Mammon in this director's brilliantly over-the-top biopic regarding the shamed religious broadcaster and her criminal husband. Garfield plays the corrupt Bakker, who declares initially, “God does not want us to be poor,”. He and Tammy Faye set about profiting from the people's spiritual convictions. It's an extravaganza of poor styling, overdone appearance and insincerity, however the lead actress achieves to present the real-life figure as a sympathetic figure.
