19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hardcourt
A revitalized Medvedev won his maiden title for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The Russian, a former world number one, has experienced a challenging season, winning just one match at the big events and experiencing a setback at the American major.
Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with former mentor his previous coach.
Presently working with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.
This marks the player's maiden title since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface from spring of that year.
The win also signifies Medvedev has secured 21 victories at twenty-one different tournaments.
"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a title is particularly special," stated world number 14 Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, comprising in that event in the past months.
His defensive approach and regular outbursts on court had prompted commentators to wonder if his skill to perform at the elite level was over.
But the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an enhanced service.
Medvedev came back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.
The pair traded breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden professional victory, seized the initiative to create a third set.
Moutet saved 4 early-game opportunities in a competitive final set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to close out the victory.
Appropriately, the winner secured the win with a shot at the net area, with Moutet incapable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
